Disney Presents Oz, Oz stylized as OZ and simply referred as OZ, is an upcoming 2012 American traditional animated musical theatrical feature film with an early release date of May 25, 2012 for San Francisco, California and an official release date for June 15, 2012 worldwide.
This film is another adaption on the 1900 fairytale novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, although the film gives the plot some twists. Even though the majority of the film based on the original novel, this film takes some liberties from other adaptions and parodies, mostly from Wicked (musical), and especially The Wizard of Oz (1939 film)
Dorothy Gale, a girl from Kansas, gets swept far away with her dog Toto by a cyclone in her house. The house eventually crashed into the Land of Oz which also crashed into Olivia, The Wicked Witch of the East. The witch then tells Dorothy to help her so she grabbed her Silver Shoes which got taken off of the witch, which somehow got her free. Desperate and a bit confused, Dorothy tries to find a way she can go to back to Kansas. The answer is revealed by tattypoo, The Good Witch of the North where Dorothy must try to reach the Emerald City to meet the Great Oz so that Dorothy can be returned home. Along the way, she meets a living Scarecrow, a man made entirely of tin named Tin Woodman, and a cowardly lion who want their greatest wishes to be granted. They reach the Emerald City where she can meet the Great Oz. But first, the wizard commands them to destroy Elphaba, The Wicked Witch of the West, but instead of destroying her, they let the witch be "free" from what she has done. When they return, they discover that the Wizard is just really a tender-hearted old man who agrees to help dorothy get home. soon at the release of the balloon that will sent dorothy home she misses to balloon, without any options the wizard jumps out. soon the six go off to meet with glinda the witch of the north. when they meet them the scarecrow, tin woodman and lion learn they had what they needed all along, as for the wizard, he's told that he can still use the balloon which got caught in a tree in glinda's castle to leave. and as for dorothy she had the power to go home the whole time by clicking her silver slippers and saying "there's no place like home" as soon as she does she gets transported back to her kansas home.
